Tv9 is a private television channel in Malaysia that is owned and operated by a private department. The purpose of this channel’s transmission is to broadcast its program, particularly for Muslim Malays in Malaya. The contents of its programs are related to religious programs, Nickelodeon cartoon shows, and Indonesian dramas, it also facilitates TV shopping programs.
Initially, it started to on-air its programs on 9 September 2003(about 10 years ago) as channel 9, its workforce highly consists of the previous Metro Vision staff. Anaza Sdn Bhd is one of the then-operator of THR.fm, that buy channel 9 from Medanmas Sdn Bhd.

But later on, in 2004 this channel introduced its new slogan Malaysia…lah! This channel is affiliated with tv3 and ntv7. On 2005 New Year’s Day, this channel claimed that on 1 February 2005 it was going to halt its operations in which it will restructure its debts and corporate organization.
This time was tough for channel 9 because it has to face competition from other free–to–air television stations in Malaysia. On the same day, Media Prima Berhad the largest media corporation claimed its acquisition of a 98% impartial stake in channel 9 media Sdn Bhd and virtually completed the company’s possession of all private free-to-air TV channels in Malaysia.
On 1 February 2005, it stopped its transmission due to some financial disasters faced by the operator.
It re-starts it working as a subsidiary of Media Prima Berhad, on 22 April 2006. It broadcasts English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil programs in Malaya and Indonesian languages. A slot also dedicated to Hindi movies is known as Hindi Power which also includes Tamil Bollywood programs, it was on aired from 16:00 to 20:00 according to its local time.
It does not provide its services nationwide but does not facilitate its audience with 24-hour services.
Re-launched as tv9:
It was re-launched as tv9 and its started broadcasting on 22 April 2006. It also got a new slogan Dekat Di Hati(Malay for shut at heart). It the beginning it do not have its own news bulletin but in 2007 it started its own news bulletin named Berita TV9.
On 1 January 2010, this got a new tagline: Di Hatiku(At My Heart In Malay). It airs its own news segment named Liputan 9, it airs this segment from 20:00 local time on a daily basis. It provides its services from 06:30 to 01:30 the next day, except for Ramadan because in this holy month it provides 24-hour services.
It has its headquarters in Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, and Selangor, Malaysia.
